Shindig for Schim

Laser tag! We couldn’t think of more fitting farewell for our very own technical sharpshooter. After seven years as Fleming Creative Group’s multi-talented Technical Lead, Mike Schimanowsky (aka Schim) is returning to the freelancing life.
On Wednesday we gathered at Planet Lazer in Richmond to help send Schim off in a (laser) blaze of glory. Not that he needs much help with that. Schim’s wide-ranging ‘tools’ expertise has been integral in establishing our reputation for digital storytelling and interactive solutions. For clients such as Fox, A&E, Haddock Entertainment, Resonance Films, Propaganda Games, Relic Entertainment, Microsoft, Lowe Enterprises, and Polygon Homes, Schim has been our technical go-to (and guru), overseeing development and deployment from start to finish on project after project.
Although laser tag got our adrenalin going...and our competitive streaks primed, the highlight was the “Schim masks” we made for the occasion. While it was a bit unsettling seeing a whole room full of Schims, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Just our way of showing how much Schim means to all of us.
It’s hard to say goodbye to someone who feels more like a member of the family than an employee. But, we haven’t really lost him. Schim will continue to work with us as a freelancer, and we expect he’ll show up for Friday afternoon beers from time to time. We wish him all the best as he embarks on a new path.
