Tobias Hoss and Christian Schwentke from the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz, Germany designed an A1 size wall calender portraying the company MBTech, a subsidiary of Mercedes Benz, from a new angle. The calendar shows the services of this company in an unorthodox way and translates the highly technical processes in a friendly, humorous world. They created a world out of paper and cardboard showing the different fields MBTech is active in. Everything was cut, pasted, and photographed - no Photoshop. Beautiful illustrations!
Even if this style of product presentation – pressed in starch/flour – is not new, I still like it a lot. These shots for Muse magazine are from Mitchell Feinberg, who has been shooting luxury still life for over fifteen years, distinguishing himself as one of the world’s premier jewelry and accessory photographers.

Kristof Kintera is an award-winning Czech artist whose work appears in many prestigious collections such as the American Museum of Fine Arts. He has also sold many pieces to private collectors. This 33-year-old sculptor and designer is something of an enfant terrible of the Czech art scene. My favorite creations are Miracle, Red is coming, Revolution, Something electric, It is beginning! and Do not touch!
This is a video (turn on your speakers!) from the tech demo for the game The Unfinished Swan. Simple concept, a little creepy and very well done. Basically you need to find your way by splattering paint onto walls and objects in an entirely white or black world. Even if I’m not into computer games, I want to play it right now.
The Multicolr Search Lab is a part of Idée Labs—Idée’s technology playground for visual search. With the Multicolr Search Lab, you can browse through 10 million of Flickr’s most ‘interesting’ Creative Commons images, and find ones that share the same colours. Choose up to 10 colours from the palette of 120 different shades. Just select one or more colours from the palette and your search will happen automatically. Add more colours, or remove them to update your results. When you first land on the Multicolour Search Lab page, it will be blank. Just pick a colour to get started!
A beautiful installation at the Illustrative 08 in Zurich from Julien Vallée, a graphic designer based in Montréal, Canada. I like how his style bridges physical and virtual art by applying available technological tools to manual art. He also has some other neat illustration and motion pieces:
Inspired by the idea that one of the greatest gifts one generation can pass to another is the wisdom it has gained from experience, the Wisdom project by Andrew Zuckerman, produced with cooperation from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, seeks to create a record of a multicultural group of people who have all made their mark on the world. Presented against the same white space, all of the subjects are removed from their context, which not only democratizes them, but also allows for a clear dialogue to exist among them. In an attempt to create a more profound, honest and truly revealing portrait of these luminaries, the project encompasses their voices, their physical presence, and the written word. This comprehensive portrayal of such a profound and global group is an index of extraordinary perspectives.
*relativity is an art project by Drzach & Suchy. Multiple images (up to three) are encoded within a single physical object — a white panel, which displays the separate images under appropriate lighting conditions. The underlying principle of this technique is based on a simple observation: the shadow cast by an object depends not only on the object itself, but also on the light; therefore the same object under changing lighting conditions can totally change its appearance.

Over $300 for a fruit bowl is not a bargain, but, hey, who has a custom-made bowl in the shape of the area you live in? There is an online generator available where you can use Google Maps to choose the city or area you want and the application creates a unique topographic shape that will be cut out of high-end plywood.
The Sensacell system is a human interface technology. The modules can be assembled to form interactive sensor surfaces of any size or shape from a single module to thousands of square feet, providing absolute sensing resolution. Each module contains high-brightness LED lighting arrays controlled by an on-board digital dimmer. LEDs are available in many colours, shapes, and sizes, providing a wide variety of stunning visual feedback possibilities.
A 270 square feet floor was built for the Spanish pavilion “Communitat Valenciana” for the World Expo 2008 in Zaragoza.
A collection of impressive interactive installations.

Shiny Balls Mirror
An artwork made by Daniel Rozin
This mechanical mirror is made of 921 hexagonal black-anodized aluminum tube extrusions, 921 chrome-plated plastic balls, 819 motors, control electronics, video camera, and a computer. Any person standing in front of this piece is instantly reflected on its surface. The mechanical mirrors produce a soothing sound as the viewer interacts with them.
