Augmented Reality Ad
Wednesday, August 27, 2008
How cool would it be to see a building in a real estate ad or a 3D Mario on a Nintendo standee using this technology?! The technology is from HITlabs at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and was used for the Wellington Zoo.

Waterdrop
Tuesday, August 26, 2008
Roca, a Spanish multinational producer of sanitary products presents the Waterdrop installation at 100% Design London. A spectacular and engaging experience capturing the beauty of water, designed by Héctor Serrano Studio. Watch the video.
Why water? For us it is our soul, it is the reason why Roca exists. It runs through every one of our products and is the protagonist of our stage, the bathroom. We thought that it is time to make a tribute to this precious and fantastic element, let’s make a tribute to the beauty of water.

eepmon for XBox 360
Monday, August 25, 2008
We’re proud of our amazing summer intern for 2007. Eric Chan (or eepmon.com as he’s known) has put his mark on a tasty new campaign for XBox 360. As you’ll note in past blogs, Eric’s installation work graces our lobby at the offices of Fleming Creative Group and he was recently awarded a Gold standing in Computer Arts’ Graduate Showcase. Yes, we definitely can spot talent.

Nils is waiting…
Friday, August 22, 2008
A neat German viral campaign for the new IKEA 2009 catalog. Basically, it’s a guy (Nils) waiting in an almost empty room until the catalog arrives and he can order some furniture.
You are able to watch the video-stream, drop a line via Twitter or even call him (from Canada: 011 49 402 261 1161). The best thing is: it’s all LIVE!

Disassembled Household Appliances
Thursday, August 21, 2008
If you’ve ever wanted to know what your household appliances look like from the inside, just have a look at the photos from Brittny Badger. I love how well composed the parts are. Badger explains:
This was my senior thesis project at the Hartford Art School this past year… I took apart used cooking/cleaning appliances, and arranged their interior parts very systematically on a white sheet of bristol board. My intention was to explore the hidden “brains” of these appliances; allowing us to view these everyday objects from a new perspective.

Things you can do with a pen
Tuesday, August 19, 2008
Artists like to work with Sharpie Markers. Personally, I prefer Copics for sketching on paper. Anyway, it doesn’t matter which marker you use if you are an amazing illustrator like he (I couldn’t track down the name of this artist) with a crazy client who wants to have a very special Lamborghini Gallardo.

Peace it Together ‘08 Film Premiere Strikes a Chord
Monday, August 18, 2008
Last night, a group of us attended Peace it Together 2008’s World Premiere Film Screening held at the Stanley Theatre in Vancouver. Wow! What an evening! We were treated to eight short films created by 30 Palestinian, Israeli, and Canadian youth during this summer’s Peace it Togther camp held on Bowen Island. But we were also treated to something more - messages of hope, inspiration, and transformation from the youth themselves.
Having re-branded Peace it Together over the last year, we were aware of the non-profit’s mission: to create a generation of creative peace-makers through a program of dialogue, conflict-resolution, and filmmaking. However, seeing the films and hearing the youth speak about their experiences and films, gave us a much deeper understanding of Peace it Together’s ability to change attitudes and lives.
Working in mixed-cultural groups, the youth created films about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and how it affects their lives. From the hilarious animated short “Listen Up” and the contrasting worlds of “Freedom Is” to the powerful documentary “My Enemy,” and intense drama “Checkpoint of Humanity,” the result was a mix of films that were insightful, funny, poignant, and deeply moving. In many cases it was hard to believe these films were created in three short weeks – and by novice filmmakers at that.
Most impressive, though, was the youth themselves, bravely sharing their fears and hopes with one another and now with an audience around the world through their films. Through the relationships they forged over the last three weeks and the work they’ve done to collaborate both artistically and personally, these young people show all of us that peace is possible, that hope is alive. It was a remarkable evening - and one we won’t soon forget.
For more information about Peace if Together, and where the films will be screened next, go to www.peaceittogether.ca

Bored at the Print Shop?

It’s not a new idea to reuse the videogame “The Incredible Machine” in real life. For instance, Honda used it for one of their ads, but it’s always enjoyable to watch other incredible interpretations like this.

Okay, so the story is pretty juvenile, but it’s a good use of the Interactive capabilities on YouTube. Definitely an interesting option for the right kind of project.

Battery Recycling at FCG!
Thursday, July 10, 2008
Hey you! Did you know there are some items you shouldn’t throw in the garbage? Things like batteries, paint, fluorescent tubes, and CFL bulbs (when they eventually burn out). That’s because they contain hazardous wastes that can leak in landfills and contaminate nearby soils and water systems. To help accommodate one of the more common of these products, we’ve expanded our recycling to include batteries. If you’ve got batteries at home you need recycled, bring ‘em in and we’ll make sure they’re disposed of safely, while saving you a trip to the disposal plant.
Note: RECHARGABLE batteries can be dropped off at MEC, Canadian Tire, or Home Depot for safe disposal.
