As you’ll note in past blogs, Eric’s installation work graces our lobby at the offices of Fleming Creative Group and he was recently awarded a Gold standing in Computer Arts’ Graduate Showcase. Disassembled Household Appliances

If you’ve ever wanted to know what your household appliances look like from the inside, just have a look at the photos from Brittny Badger. I love how well composed the parts are.
Badger explains,

This was my senior thesis project at the Hartford Art School this past year… I took apart used cooking/cleaning appliances, and arranged their interior parts very systematically on a white sheet of bristol board. My intention was to explore the hidden “brains” of these appliances; allowing us to view these everyday objects from a new perspective.

Artists like to work with Sharpie Markers. Personally, I prefer Copics for sketching on paper. Anyway, it doesn’t matter which marker you use if you are an amazing illustrator like he (I couldn’t track down the name of this artist) with a crazy client who wants to have a very special Lamborghini Gallardo.

Peace it Together ‘08 Film Premiere Strikes a Chord

Last night, a group of us attended Peace it Together 2008’s World Premiere Film Screening held at the Stanley Theatre in Vancouver. Wow! What an evening! We were treated to eight short films created by 30 Palestinian, Israeli, and Canadian youth during this summer’s Peace it Togther camp held on Bowen Island. But we were also treated to something more - messages of hope, inspiration, and transformation from the youth themselves.

Battery Recycling at FCG!

Hey you! Did you know there are some items you shouldn’t throw in the garbage? Things like batteries, paint, fluorescent tubes, and CFL bulbs (when they eventually burn out). That’s because they contain hazardous wastes that can leak in landfills and contaminate nearby soils and water systems. To help accommodate one of the more common of these products, we’ve expanded our recycling to include batteries. If you’ve got batteries at home you need recycled, bring ‘em in and we’ll make sure they’re disposed of safely, while saving you a trip to the disposal plant.
Note: RECHARGABLE batteries can be dropped off at MEC, Canadian Tire, or Home Depot for safe disposal.
